Community Mural Painting Project

Organized and sponsored by Carco Theatre, Renton Municipals Arts Commission and The Owl Project

Come join the painting fun and be a part of mural history in Renton.  On Friday, July 26, 11am-3pm, on the lower backside wall of Carco Theatre (side of building which faces the Cedar River), volunteers will be ready to assist and provide materials needed for you to help paint the new mural “Life, Diversity, and Joy.”  The design, by artist Scott Douwes, is a reflection of both the power and beauty of the Cedar River, its importance to the salmon run each year, and the diversity of the people who enjoy its presence in their lives.  Mural lines will already bein place, and the community is invited to paint in the colors at this free activity.  All ages and abilities welcome; the activity takes place under shelter; children under 10 should be accompanied by an adult.  Carco Theatre, located within Cedar River Park at 1717 Maple Valley Hwy, is the performing arts building next door to the Renton Community Center.  Easy access from Liberty Park to Cedar River Park and Carco Theatre on foot using the I-405 underpass.  For questions or more information, call 206.775.8600 or email info@carcotheatre.org.

Wenatchee Youth Circus Performs at Cedar River Park

Joining the line up of events and activities over festival weekend, the Wenatchee Youth Circus will host three performances at Cedar River Park (the park just east of I-405, by the Renton Community Center and Henry Moses Aquatics Center).   Easy access to Cedar River Park on foot from Liberty Park.  Tickets are $3/pp for children under 18, and $5/pp for adults 18 and over.  Tickets will be available for sale July 26 and July 27 in Liberty Park at the Festival Information Booth, and 30 minutes prior to each of the three show times at the Circus seating entrance in Cedar River Park.

The Art Market & Marketplace

The outdoor show runs Friday through Sunday, July 26-28, in Gianini Stadium, located in Liberty Park.  A variety of vendors selling a selection of art, hand-crafted and import/independent distributor items.  The Marketplace will feature independent/franchise distributors (i.e. Tupperware, Pampered Chef, PartyLite, LulaRoe etc).  Show layout includes activities for children and families. Nibble of Renton

Food vendor slots are full for 2019.  Experience a variety of culinary delights from local restaurants and caterers at the 2019 Nibble of Renton in Liberty Park. This popular appetizing food fair will be open Friday, July 26, from 11am-8pm, Saturday, July 27, from 11am-8pm, and Sunday, July 28, from 11am-6pm.  Food vendors will feature Hawaiian, teriyaki, corn dogs, bbq ribs, chowder, fish and chips, grilled salmon caesars, roasted corn, smoothies, ice cream, Italian sodas, and espresso to name just a few. Menu prices range from $8-$11.

Tons of free and low-cost fun for kids and “kids at heart” during festival weekend.  NEW this year, our Extreme Fun Zone, featuring low-cost activities of a 32′ Climbing Wall, Virtual Reality, Monkey Motion Bungee-Jumping, Ballistic Swing, Bumper Balls, and All-Ages Inflatables (giant slides, obstacle courses).  Free activities:  Putt Putt Golf, Petting Zoo, Photo ID Cards, Board Games of the World, Caricaturist, Hula Hooping, Junk Chimes, Sound of Culture, LEGO PlayZone, Dizzy’s Tumble Bus, and Chalk Art Contest, plus much more. Pancake Breakfast

This delicious breakfast event will be held on Saturday, July 27, from 7:30am-10am at the Renton Senior Activity Center. Menu will feature pancakes, eggs, sausage, fruit cup, coffee, tea, and orange juice. Prices are $8/pp for adults, $6 for seniors, and $4 for  children under 12. Renton Lions Club volunteers will have a donation box for used eyeglasses and hearing aids for distribution to the less fortunate. River Days Parade

Parade Application process is closed.
ParadeSpectators line S. 3rd St. from Shattuck Avenue to Liberty Park on July 27 at 10am.  The Parade welcomes the annual return of Kent Phillips, of STAR 101.5 FM, as our Parade Announcer.  Participants are encouraged to create unique and nostalgic entries, and incorporating music is always a big hit with the crowds.  This year’s theme is “Catch a Wave!”

Volunteers are needed to assist with Parade morning set-up, staging, and monitoring intersections for safety.  Please call Nancy if you are interested in volunteering for the Parade.

SPECIAL NOTICE: Renton River Days has a budget to provide a modest contribution to local or visiting marching bands, or other parade entries with musicians or bands and help offset expenses. Marching bands and musicians captivate the crowds. Our Parade Committee would like more entries like this to consider.

2nd Annual Pacific Northwest Art & Music

Experience a live show celebrating artwork, photography, and music from the Pacific Northwest!  Immediately following Saturday’s River Days Parade, Wells Avenue will quickly evolve into a mini block party.  This Block Party will feature multiple bands, art demonstrations and displays offered by Renton-based artists.  Music will begin at the conclusion of the Parade and continue throughout the afternoon.

Rubber Ducky Derby

The last day of Renton River Days means it is time for the Rotary Club Rubber Ducky Derby! Thousands of little yellow ducks will wait at the Houser Way Bridge at 4:30pm, ready to jump into the water and race down the Cedar River. Purchase of Rubber Ducky tickets will let you cheer your duck to possible victory and have a chance to win one of five valuable prizes at the same time. This much anticipated event benefits the  Salvation Army Renton Rotary Food BankRenton School District, and other deserving area nonprofits.
