Renton River Days returns in limited fashion this year!

After two years of significant pandemic impacts, Renton’s community celebration, River Days, returns with infusion of new ideas.

Make plans now to participate in these family-friendly activities!

July 14-24: Road Trip Around Renton

Explore Renton with our Road Trip Around Renton app-driven self-guided scavenger hunt starting July 14. Your mission is to check off as many activities as you can before July 24 for your chance to win a prize. From “Just a Walk in the Park: take a picture of you doing your favorite activity at your favorite park in Renton!” to “Getting Groovy: take a video of your team enjoying the live music at Renton River Days!.”

Get started in three steps:

  • Register online at rentonwa.gov/register using the keyword “Road Trip” or course #12270
  • Download the GooseChase app and enter the code and password emailed to you.
  • Start your expedition and scavenger hunt of Renton, and record your missions via the app to earn points. Prizes will be awarded raffle style, so the more points you have the more entries you get to win a prize.

July 22: at Liberty Park

Free Family Movie-In-the Park “Encanto”
Gather with your friends and family for a movie under the stars. Low-back chairs and blankets only in front viewing area. Movie will start at dusk. Joining our movie night at Liberty Park, will be Ice Cream Express WA, offering so many ice creams and popsicles that you won’t know where to stop! Their menu includes over 60 delectable frozen treats including ice cream, popsicles, and specialty items.

2022 Parade “On the Road Again” sponsored by Brotherton Cadillac

Parade starts at 10am on Saturday, July 23
On-Line Parade Application Here; deadline to register is Wednesday, July 13, 5pm. Parade entry fee $25/entry. Follow-up information (i.e. insurance requirements, check-in time, Parade route) will be sent to confirmed entries.

Entertain spectators along South 3rd St. in downtown Renton with decorated, unique, creative, and family-friendly entries. Promote and provide information about your organization’s programs and services. We welcome the annual return of talent from STAR 101.5 FM who will serve as our Parade Announcers. This year, Moug & Angie from Moug & Angie Mornings on STAR 101.5 (weekdays 6 – 10a) will Co-Emcee the Parade!

5K Fun Walks:

Saturday, July 23, 8am-11am, riverside of Renton Senior Activity Center. Parking available at Renton Memorial Stadium. Follow signs to Start Table at riverfront side of Senior Center. Join us for three different 5K fun walk options: viewing the city from above (route challenges you to walk up Renton Hill for the views), or from the water (walk along the Cedar River Trail to Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park), or through downtown Renton, enjoying the festival and new streetscape improvements. Rubber Ducky Derby: organized and sponsored by Renton Rotary

Saturday, July 23, 4:30pm, Houser Street Bridge. Thousands of little yellow ducks race for valuable prizes. For information, visit www.Rentonrotary.org or download their Rubber Ducky Derby flyer. Renton Rotarians will sell tickets along the Parade route on South 3rd Street on Saturday morning, July 23. Rotarians will also sell Ducky Derby tickets from the Rotary Table at the Renton Farmers Market at Piazza Park in downtown Renton on Tuesdays during June and July. Tickets are also available for purchase at St. Charles Place Antiques, Cugini Florists, and The Renton Printery located in downtown Renton, and from any Renton Rotary Club member. For each $5 ticket, supporters have a chance to win one of several great prizes. All proceeds benefits Rotary’s Renton-based service projects.

Antique & Classic Boat Show

Parade

Spectators line S. 3rd St. from Shattuck Avenue to Liberty Park on July XX at 10am. The Parade welcomes the annual return of Kent Phillips, of STAR 101.5 FM, as our Parade Announcer. Participants are encouraged to create unique and nostalgic entries, and incorporating music is always a big hit with the crowds.

SPECIAL NOTICE: Renton River Days has a budget to provide a modest contribution to local or visiting marching bands, or other parade entries with musicians or bands and help offset expenses. Marching bands and musicians captivate the crowds. Our Parade Committee would like more entries like this to consider.
